The tool

Compress to an Exact File Size

Nothing is uploaded

Favicons, app icons, sprite sheets, listing thumbnails.

Auto picks WebP — 25–35% smaller than JPEG at the same quality.

Cropping never happens — only the longest edge is capped.

Your files stay on this device. No account, no upload, no watermarks, no limits.

How it works

Three Steps, No Server in the Middle.

  1. 01

    Drop the Photo

Click, drag, or paste straight from the clipboard. The file is read with the File API and never handed to a network request.

    JPEG · PNG · WebP · GIF · SVG · AVIF

  2. 02

    Set the Byte Budget

Choose a preset or type your own. The encoder bisects quality against your target, then shrinks the pixel grid whenever quality alone cannot get there.

Quality bisection → grid rescale → repeat

  3. 03

    Compare, Then Save

Drag the slider across the image to see what changed, then download one result or the whole batch as a ZIP.

    Pixel-level before / after inspection

What you get

Built for the Thing Everyone Else Gets Wrong.

Most compressors hand you a quality slider and wish you luck. The output size is a side-effect you find out about after downloading. This tool starts from the number you actually need.

  • Nothing Is Uploaded

There is no backend to send your images to. Decoding, encoding and resizing all happen in this tab, which is why the tool works with your Wi-Fi switched off.

  • Metadata Is Stripped

EXIF is dropped automatically — GPS coordinates, camera serial, timestamps and lens data do not survive a re-encode through the canvas.

  • Batch with One Click

Queue a whole folder, compress them all to the same target, and pull the results back as a single ZIP archive.

  • Resize Without Cropping

Cap the longest edge at 800, 1200, 1600, 2048 or 4096 px. Aspect ratio is preserved, so nothing is ever cut off.

  • Format Conversion Built In

Switch to WebP for 25–35% smaller files at equal quality, keep JPEG for maximum compatibility, or stay lossless with PNG.

  • Honest About Limits

When an image physically cannot reach your target, we say so and show the smallest size that image can actually hit.

Target sizes

Pick a Size, Not a Quality Number.

Every upload limit you have ever hit — a job portal, a council form, an email attachment — arrives as a byte count, never as “quality 72”. So we take a byte count and work backwards: quality first, then the pixel grid, until the file fits.

Tiny — Icons & Thumbnails

Favicons, app icons, sprite sheets, listing thumbnails.

Standard — Web & Documents

Blog images, product shots, attachments, form uploads.

Large — Full Resolution

Print-ready exports, hero images, portfolio pieces.

Need something that is not listed? Choose Custom Size… in the tool and type any value from 1 KB → 50 MB.

FAQ

Questions, Answered Plainly.

Still stuck? Everything here describes exactly what the code does — there is no hidden pipeline behind the curtain.

Read the Guides
How Does It Compress to an Exact File Size?

The image is drawn to a canvas and encoded once at the lowest acceptable quality. If that already fits under your target, the encoder quality is bisected to find the highest quality that still fits — so you keep as much detail as the size allows. If quality alone cannot reach the target, the pixel grid is scaled down and the search runs again, repeating until the file fits.

Do My Images Get Uploaded Anywhere?

No. There is no upload endpoint in this application. Files are read with the browser File API, decoded with createImageBitmap, drawn to a canvas and re-encoded with canvas conversion. All of that happens in this tab, on your device. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool will still work.

What Is the Largest Image I Can Process?

There is no file-size limit imposed by the tool, but anything above 15 MB is decoded at full resolution in memory and can exhaust a device with low RAM. If your browser tab crashes, close other tabs and try a smaller source image. Camera originals in the 20–40 MB range usually work fine on a laptop.

Can I Compress iPhone Photos (HEIC)?

Yes. Modern browsers decode HEIC through the same canvas pipeline, and because most upload forms only accept JPEG, the tool converts to JPEG (or WebP) automatically while it compresses. The result downloads as a .jpg you can upload anywhere — a job portal, an email attachment or a marketplace listing.

How Is This Different from TinyPNG or Other Online Compressors?

Those services work — by sending your file to their servers. This one never uploads anything: decoding, quality search and re-encoding all happen inside this browser tab. That also means no daily quota, no account, no file-size ceiling imposed by an upload form, and nothing left on a third-party server afterwards.

Will I Lose Quality?

Some, by definition — a smaller file holds less information. What you keep is control: the tool searches for the highest quality that still fits your byte budget instead of guessing. Use the before/after slider on the actual pixels to judge the result, and switch formats to WebP if you want more detail at the same size.

Is My Location or Camera Data Removed?

Yes, automatically. Re-encoding through a canvas drops EXIF metadata — GPS coordinates, camera serial number, lens data and timestamps do not survive the trip. If a form has ever rejected your photo for being “too large”, the metadata was often part of what made it large.

Why Is 200 KB the Limit for So Many Forms?

Job portals, council forms and marketplace listings set byte limits like 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB so their storage stays cheap and pages load fast. Those limits are stated as sizes, never as quality settings — which is exactly why this tool takes a byte count as its input. Pick the limit your form states and the file lands under it.

Can I Compress Many Photos at Once?

Yes — drop a whole folder or select multiple files. Every image is queued and compressed to the same target one after another, then everything downloads back as a single ZIP archive. There is no batch limit; the only constraint is your device’s memory while the queue runs.

Do You Have an Image Compressor to 50kb or 100kb?

Yes — this page is an image compressor to 50kb, an image compressor to 100kb and an image compressor to 200kb: pick the target size, drop the photos, and every file comes back at that exact number. If a form says “maximum 50 KB”, choose 50 KB and the result lands under it.

Can It Act as an Image Compressor to 1mb or 500kb?

It can also be an image compressor to 1mb, an image compressor to 500kb and an image compressor to 20kb — any target from 5 KB to 5 MB works the same way, including unusual custom values like 175 KB.

What Exactly Is a Photo Size Reducer?

It is this tool: use it as a photo size reducer 20 kb for avatar and form fields, a photo size reducer 50 kb for job-portal uploads, or a photo size reducer 100 kb for marketplace listings. Pick the KB target, drop the photo, download the smaller file — nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Is It Really Free to Compress Image Online?

Yes — you can compress image online free on this page with no account, no watermark and no daily cap. “Free” means the whole tool: unlimited files, every preset, batch mode and the comparison slider, all running in your own browser.

How Do I Reduce Photo Size in KB?

Set the Target Size to the KB number your form asks for — 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB — press Compress, and the encoder works backwards from that byte count until the file fits. No quality guessing, no second guessing: the result reports the exact size it saved.
